Senior Front-End Engineer – Ecommerce - ReactJS (f/m/d)

Our E-Commerce team is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer based in Amsterdam.

At Decathlon, our E-Commerce teams drive a powerful technological and organizational transformation to support all Decathlon stores and partners worldwide. We're committed to Cloud Native applications, APIs, inner-sourcing, Agility at scale, and fostering a Product culture.

Within the Engineering teams of E-Commerce, we work on key features in major countries and tools allowing you to act on business levers. The team works independently in an agile environment, close to its users, constantly seeking improvement and responsible for its product: “You build it, you run it”.

The team spread across Lille, Amsterdam, Paris, and Nantes, works collaboratively in an agile setup, emphasizing autonomy and continuous improvement. Occasional travel will therefore be expected.

YOUR FUTURE IMPACT

Your primary responsibilities will revolve around:

Collaboration and Growth: Actively participate in user request processing, collaborate on feature development with Product Managers, and contribute to the team's skill enhancement. Encourage continuous improvement and autonomy within the team.

Code Quality: Ensure code quality within the team through rigorous practices such as code review, pair programming, and adherence to clean code principles. Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions to elevate the coding standards across the team.

Your daily responsibilities will revolve around:

Technical Leadership: As a technical ambassador, share your expertise in code quality, best practices, patterns, and tools. Facilitate disseminating good practices within the team, working closely with the Engineering Manager and across feature teams.

Hiring and Onboarding: Play a pivotal role in the hiring process, contributing to the selection of diverse and talented individuals. Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for new team members, ensuring they feel welcome, supported, and quickly integrated into the team culture.

Mentorship and Skill Development: Act as a mentor to software developers, guiding them in their professional growth. Develop and implement mentorship programs that support the ongoing learning and development of team members. Encourage a culture of mutual learning, where knowledge is shared, and skills are continually honed.

Driving Integration: Be a driving force in the integration and continuous delivery process.

End-to-End Contribution: Participate in the entire functionality delivery chain, covering design, implementation, tests, technical documentation, examples, API, SDK, etc.

Technical Empowerment: Demonstrate strength in proposing technical choices and contribute to the team's self-organization.

TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

Frontend Technologies: Svelte, ReactJS (including NextJS)

Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript

Runtime environment: Node.js

Web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, with a focus on accessibility, W3C standards, and web performance

Version control and CI/CD: Git (GitHub Actions), unit and functional testing, CI/CD processes

Monitoring: Leveraging tools like Datadog, Dynatrace for effective monitoring

Collaborative Tools and Infrastructure: Utilizing collaborative tools such as Confluence, Slack, Jira, and working in infrastructure environments like AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Flux, Helm, etc.

As a Senior Front-End Engineer in our dynamic team, your primary mission will be to elevate the customer journey within the Lower Funnel. This involves giving the best frictionless purchase experience for our customers all around the world by bringing strategies to clarify each step of the decision process through an engaging, secure, fast, and localized purchase pipeline. We are also in charge of post-purchase initiatives to continue to please our customers even after their initial purchase, by providing features like returning on-line a product, managing their payment wallet, etc
